Q. Can I access library subscriptions (ie Journals, Web of Science) offsite without using VPN or DASH?
Yes! We have federated login set up for most of our subscriptions using Argonne's Single Sign on system. Access methods are slightly different for each publisher. If you do not see Argonne National Laboratory as an institution option, search for Incommon Federation.
Here are a few examples:
For Web of Science:
https://www.webofscience.com/wos/woscc/basic-search.
- On the left side of the screen, under Institutional Sign In, you'll select Incommon Federation from the drop down menu. Then click Go to institution.
- You'll be redirected to an Incommon webpage where you'll then select Argonne National Laboratory.
- Then you'll be redirected to the ANL SSO page to sign in with your regular ANL credentials.
- After you're logged in, you'll be sent back to Web of Science.
For Elsevier Science Direct:
https://www.sciencedirect.com/ https://www.sciencedirect.com/
- click the Sign In button in the upper right corner of your screen.
- From the Welcome screen, you'll click "Sign in via your organization."
- Type in Argonne National Laboratory and select it.
- Click on Access through Argonne National Laboratory.
- You'll be redirected to the Argonne Single Sign On page. Log in with your ANL credentials.
- You'll be redirected back to Science Direct, where you can click on Continue anonymously (or sign in/register).
- Finally, you'll be redirected back to Science Direct where you'll be able to access our institutional subscriptions.
